Why you should be offering Minis to grow your photography business

Let's be real - getting new clients can be a challenge for any new photographer starting out.

It’s all about creating a brand reputation through word of mouth, reviews, getting tagged on your client’s socials, and portfolio building.

This is why mini sessions are actually a fantastic way to grow your photography business quickly. It’s really just simple math!

Say you schedule a 1 hour photoshoot with a family. That family will then tell 5 friends about you - through tagging you in their new profile photo on Facebook, telling a co-worker at their job, sharing your photo on their holiday Christmas card, etc. So you spend 1 hour, and potentially receive 5 new leads from that! Great!

But let’s see what happens when you take that 1 hour of shoot time, and schedule 3 mini sessions instead…

In the same 60 minutes it took you to do 1 family session, you were able to do 3 mini sessions instead - which gained you a whopping 15 new referrals to your photo biz. And not just chatting REFERRALS, but i’m going to guess that you probably made more money doing 3 minis vs 1 family shoot… am i right?

Mini sessions make efficient use of your time as a photographer. You can pack several short sessions into just a couple hours, filling up your calendar with clients interested in a shorter time commitment and lower entry level price.

But the real beauty lies in what comes after. With that initial connection made, your new clients are infinitely more likely to book you again for bigger shoots and milestone events. And to my point again, they will rave about you to every friend, family member, and random stranger they can corner. It's mini session mania!
